About us

"ChemTox is a laboratory specialising in analytical toxicology which carries out analyses using the latest technical resources available for the identification and quantification of toxic substances in various different matrices. There are of course several hundreds of thousands of likely chemical substances that are potentially toxic to humans and it is the evaluation of these substances in the various areas covered by our activity that the ChemTox team have vast knowledge of in this subject. We contsantly update our procedures and knowledge with the fast changing environment within toxicology both in new technical advances and in new synthetic and medicinal drugs constantly being introduced onto the market."

ChemTox laboratory has worked for various sectors of the judicial system in France and abroad for several years and has now three legal experts among its staff.

The laboratory itself has now been appointed by the Court of Appeal of Colmar (since 1 January 2012), as a legal expert in the field of toxicology.

ChemTox has been in the news recently in relation to the unfortunate demise of the wild boars of Morieux (region in France)…
ChemTox laboratory have already intervened in the matter of a dead horse on the coast in France in July 2009, where we tested for Hydrogen Sulphides (H2S) on biological samples obtained at the time of the autopsy. There has been a reoccurence of events with several dead wild boars discovered in Morieux.

UKIAFT meeting

ChemTox will have a representative at the next meeting for the UK and Ireland Association of Forensic Toxicologists which this year will be held in the University of Aberdeen in July. The meeting is an unique opportunity to discuss current toxicology developments specifically in the UK and this year some of the topics covered include toxicology in child protection and sudden infant death, cathonines and specific case studies.
